Understanding unflattened clips in Coach Paint

An unflattened clip is a clip that remains editable after being exported. This means you (or a colleague) can import it back into Coach Paint and continue working on it.

This feature is especially useful in collaborative workflows—for example, when one teammate starts editing a clip and another needs to finish it later.

Additionally, our Support team may sometimes request your unflattened clips in order to reproduce an issue or better understand the conditions you’re working in.

How to export an unflattened clip

1. Right-click on the clip you want to export.

2. Select “Export Clip

3. Uncheck the “Flatten” option (see example below).

4. Click “Export” The clip will be downloaded to your computer.

5. Share the file with your teammate or Support representative so they can continue working on it.

Tip: Flattened clips are lighter and ready to use in presentations, while unflattened clips are best when you need ongoing editing or troubleshooting.
