How to back up and restore your clips in Coach Paint
With just a few clicks, you can back up all your clips at once and restore them whenever you need, keeping your projects safe, organized, and ready for future use.
Watch this video to learn how the Backup and Restore Clips feature works:
How to back up your clips
Step 1: Open the clip configuration
On the right side of your screen, locate the Clip Configuration button (gear icon) and click it.
Step 2: Select “Back Up Clips”
From the menu, choose Back Up Clips to start the saving process.
Step 3: Choose a destination folder
Pick the folder where your clips will be saved.
We recommend creating a new, empty folder specifically for backups.
Note for Mac users
After exporting, rename the file extensions of your clips from .mp4 to .mov (e.g., clipUnflatten.mp4 → clipUnflatten.mov). This ensures full compatibility when importing them back into Coach Paint.
Step 4 (Optional): Keep clip positions
If you’d like to preserve the exact arrangement of your clips, select Keep exact position before exporting.
How to restore your clips
You can restore all your saved clips in just one click!
Step 1: Open the clip configuration
Click on the Clip Configuration button (gear icon).
Step 2: Select “Restore Clips”
From the menu, choose Restore Clips.
Step 3: Select your backup folder
Click Browse, locate your backup folder, and press Open.
Then click Restore to import all your clips back into Coach Paint.
Alternative: Import clips manually
If you only need specific clips instead of restoring them all:
- Select an empty clip bank.
- Right-click and choose Import Clip.
- Browse to your backup folder and select the clip you want.
- Import it.
That’s it! With Backup and Restore, you’ll save time, avoid losing your work, and keep your clips perfectly organized.
