Coach Paint 9.7 Updates
If you are currently using Coach Paint 9.6.2 or earlier, do not update directly to version 9.7 without first creating a backup of your clips. Here is a tutorial on how to do it.
Dynamic Disk Recorder
Until now, Coach Paint’s disk recorder relied on a static file called clips.dat, which permanently reserved the amount of space you allocated—whether you used it or not. For example, if you set aside 100 GB, that space was always occupied, often forcing you to keep large amounts of free storage on your computer.
With Coach Paint 9.7, we’re introducing the Dynamic Disk Recorder, and it changes everything:
- Efficient storage management: Space is allocated intelligently, only when you actually need it.
- Space optimization: Work with large video files without worrying about disk space being locked unnecessarily.
- Simplified workflow: Focus on creating, not managing storage.
Frame rate transcoding
Need to work at a specific frame rate? Now you can!
In the Config Editor, simply select the frame rate you want, and Coach Paint will automatically transcode your videos to match.
- No more manual adjustments
- No need for external transcoding tools
- No risk of mismatched or choppy outputs
Live preset switching from the timeline
In older versions, changing presets (cursor style, line type, measurements, tag color, etc.) after placing an animation was a hassle—you had to delete and re-add elements.
With Coach Paint 9.7, that’s history. Just right-click on the animation in the timeline and a menu will let you change presets instantly.
Quick clip-splitting shortcuts
Splitting a clip used to take multiple steps. Now, with Quick Clip-Splitting Shortcuts, it’s simple and precise:
- Move the timeline bar to your desired In-Point.
- Press Control+B (Windows) or Command+B (Mac).
- Move to your Out-Point.
- Press Control+F (Windows) or Command+F (Mac).
- The new clip is automatically placed in the first available slot.
Restore backed-up clips
Building on the Back Up Clips feature introduced in Version 9.6.2, Coach Paint 9.7 now lets you restore those clips effortlessly.
How it works:
- Back up your clips in 9.6.2.
- Upgrade to 9.7.
- Use the Restore Clips feature to bring your work back whenever you need it.
